My Dad arrives in New Zealand

Black and white selfie of a woman smiling next to her father in a wide open park, with trees and grass stretching into the background, capturing a quiet and affectionate moment together.

Welcome to day 11 of my experiment: Going through the Valley of Despair.

My dad arrived in New Zealand last night. The last time he was here was in March 2020, just when the Covid pandemic started to wreak havoc.

We travelled around the South Island for about ten days while the lockdown drama unfolded. We only managed to get a new return ticket to Chile on the last available flight, shortly before the airline suspended the route. It was chaotic.

That's why receiving him back now, in peace (fingers crossed!), has a special flavor.

A man standing at an airport public pick-up area at night, smiling while holding a small suitcase and travel bag, moments after arriving from an international flight.

A woman and her father standing side by side in a park with tall trees, while a medium-sized dog stands in front of them looking up, capturing a relaxed family moment outdoors.

Till tomorrow,
