Honestly, I never really believed eye creams could make a noticeable difference. Still, I use them—mostly because I just love a cream (lol). The truth is, only a few have ever shown real results for me. And when it comes to brightening the under-eye area, that’s an even tougher challenge.
Dark circles have a strong genetic component, but that’s not the whole story. They come from a mix of factors — thin skin, poor circulation, pigmentation, and even lifestyle. In my case, I notice a huge difference when I don’t sleep well or feel stressed. My eyes give it away instantly.
That’s why I was surprised by these two products. Using the Tocobo Collagen Brightening Eye Gel Cream and Beauty of Joseon Light On Serum (Centella + Vita C), at different times, I noticed a real lightening of the eye area.

1. Tocobo Collagen Brightening Eye Gel Cream
I used this cream last year, and it really stuck with me. It’s a refreshing, lightweight gel packed with ingredients that fully live up to the reputation of Korean skincare.
Main ingredients
- Lavender Flower Water (81%) – soothing base that replaces ordinary water and helps reduce inflammation and signs of tiredness.
- Quartz Water – responsible for the gel’s shiny microspheres, creates an immediate optical effect of luminosity.
- Niacinamide – evens out tone and lightens pigmented dark circles.
- Retinol (Vitamin A) – stimulates collagen production and improves skin texture, smoothing fine lines.
- Collagen and Vegetable Collagen PF – strengthen firmness and reduce the transparency of thin skin.
- Panthenol (Vitamin B5) – deeply moisturizes and strengthens the skin barrier.
- Adenosine and botanical extracts (Lavender, Neem, Turmeric, Centella) – antioxidants that stimulate microcirculation and soothe the skin.
After a few weeks, I noticed the skin around my eyes looking brighter and more radiant. Some people say they see an instant glow from the quartz particles, but for me, the real results came with consistency. The texture is light and non-greasy — perfect for summer or for layering under concealer.

2.2. Beauty of Joseon Light On Serum (Centella + Vita C)
I got this serum as a free gift a while ago and started using it recently without much expectation, but it truly surprised me. The texture is thin, hydrating, and gives an instant feeling of freshness. After just a few days, I could already see the area around my eyes looking brighter.
Main ingredients
- Centella Asiatica Extract (68%) – soothes, regenerates and strengthens the skin, reduces inflammation and improves natural hydration.
- 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (10%) – a stable and less irritating version of vitamin C, which brightens and evens out tone.
- Panthenol and Betaine – keeps the skin hydrated and elastic.
- Beta-Glucan and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid – smooth lines and increase water retention.
- Bisabolol and Phellodendron Bark Extract – natural antioxidants that reduce irritation and bring radiance.
- Adenosine – promotes elasticity and supports skin cell regeneration.
The combination of Centella and vitamin C creates a rare balance — it brightens without irritation. Even with 10% vitamin C, the serum is surprisingly gentle and safe to use around the eyes.

How and when I use it
I apply eye cream at night, at the end of my skincare routine. I use a generous amount and finish with a facial mist to boost absorption overnight. By the next morning, I can clearly see how the skin around my eyes looks brighter and more refreshed.
During the day, I only apply it when I’m wearing heavier makeup. The cream helps with application and keeps the concealer from settling into fine lines.
Final Thoughts
I’ve tried many eye creams, but few have shown noticeable results. These two — the gel from Tocobo and the serum from Beauty of Joseon — truly made a difference for me, and I’ll definitely go back to using them. Besides being effective, they’re also affordable and formulated with high-quality, nutrient-rich ingredientswhich makes their value for money even more impressive. They prove that good results don’t depend on expensive products, but on smart formulations and consistent use– after all, the consistency remains the most powerful ingredient of all.
If you’ve tried either of them (or decide to after reading this post), let me know in the comments — I’d love to hear if they worked for you too.
Till the next sip,
